What are the typical lead times?

Lead times vary, but my average lead time is 1 month. I can give you a pretty clear time frame from the outset.

How much will cupboards cost?

Costs vary for several reasons, so I will cover this below as best as possible. Each project is unique, and I try to be as competitive as possible. The main reasons for varying prices are size, build material, spray finishing and character detailing.

Size – typical alcove units with two doors start at £655. Alcoves wider than 1200mm require more doors and, therefore, more material and labour.

Material – Standard cupboards and shelves are built from moisture-resistant MDF (MR MDF). I do use other sheet material and highly recommend an oak finish. Prices for oak start at £775; these are pre-oiled in the workshop.

Character detailing refers to what the cupboards will look like on the outside. The more detail, the more the cupboards will cost, but style is everything.

Spraying – Spraying costs vary, and I can’t give a clear answer for this, but prices are about £800 for a Victorian terrace (6 shelves / two cupboards). Spraying is only for shelves and exteriors of cupboards (unless requested).

How much will shelves cost?

Fitted Floating Shelves are £70 each for shelves under 1200mm wide.  They are made from 25mm MR MDF and fit perfectly without any visible fixtures into any shaped alcove.  Other materials and finishes are available. I work closely with a professional sprayer who can colour match and lacquer wooden finishes.

Once started, how long will the build take?

Typical Victorian terrace houses with two alcove cupboards and six shelves will take 2/3 days. (This is after I’ve built all elements in my workshop). Fitted shelves can take up to a day, depending on how many you desire—a minimum of 4 shelves.

Do you paint and decorate?

I work with an excellent sprayer that matches any colour with varying finishes. I highly recommend getting the furniture spray finished; it’s hard wearing and takes all the pressure off decorating yourself.

What materials can I choose?

There are certain ones we recommend and ones we don’t. Typically, I build cupboards and shelves with a paint finish with Hydrofugo Moisture-resistant MDF (MR MDF). Hydrofugo takes paint much better then moisture resistant MDF and far better the standard MDF.

What Styles/Finish/Characters can I choose?

Having done this for over 9 years, most clients choose the shaker finish. But we can replicate any style you desire.

I like what I see, what are the next steps?

If your budget aligns, please don’t hesitate to contact me. We’ll then organise a date when I can pop around to discuss, measure up and get the job booked in.

I'd like to leave a review, where can I do that?
